Basic Directory Structure

The fip file structure all descends from /fip. However, in order to facilitate disc space management /fip need only be a symbolic link to another volume on the disc.

It is also common to further link /fip/data, and /fip/spool, both of which can carry large amounts of data, onto other volumes.

Having put your data into and area such as /export/home/data/fip

ln -s /export/home/data/fip /fip
