Company Background

FingerPost is a small software company based in London, England. The company has been in business since 1990 and currently has four members of staff, which is the way it has been since 1993.

Our primary function is writing programs that receive, process and deliver wire stories. The software is known as the FingerPost Information Processor or FIP for short.

Our clients are primarily newspapers, magazines and news providers in Europe and North America, but we also have installations in South America, Australia, India and Hong Kong.

Our client list includes many internationally recognised names, for example, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, The Toronto Star, Chicago Tribune, The Boston Globe, The Globe and Mail (Toronto), Herald Tribune (Paris) and The Times, The Guardian and The Daily Telegraph of London. The four members of FingerPost are Chris (the boss), Lucy, Andrew and Ian. We have all worked for newspapers in the past, Chris at the Herald Tribune in Paris and The Independent (London), Andrew also worked at the Herald Tribune (though not at the same time as Chris), whilst Lucy and Ian worked for the Independent, which was the first published in 1986.
